Happy New Year | Review of the Remarkable Year of 2018

The remarkable year of 2018 has witnessed the 10 anniversary of our Centre and the University's continued commitment to China. With New Year just around the corner, let's toast to the achievements of our alumni and friends in 2018. I would like to thank all of your support to the China Centre in the past decade since our establishment in 2008. We look forward to another decade of success in China! Happy New Year! Wish you andyour family a healthy and prosperous year of the PIG!

10th Anniversary Celebration

On Sept. 26th, Alumni Gala Dinner 2018 was held for UoM China Centre 10th Anniversary & Sino-UK Creative Economy Forum.

On Dec. 9th, UoM China Centre 2019 Calendar was released at Beijing Alumni Xmas Party 2018.

On Dec. 18th, UoM China Centre 10th Anniversary Alumni Book was launched at the End-of-Year Alumni Party 2018.

SORSA UoM AA

Spet. 25th 2016 saw the launch of Shanghai Alumni Association, and since then various alumni events have been held. Major events in 2018 include: UoM AA joined the Spring Festival Celebration of WRSA; SORSA Vice President Ms. Zhu visited China Centre and alumni activity base-Mcloud; UoM alumni delegation visited Kunshan innovation and start-up base and Duke Kunshan University;  AA co-organized SORSA Special  Exhibition for 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up.

Senior UoM alumni were selected to become SORSA Vice President, and to join SORSA standing commitee and commitee.

Over the past few years, the China Centre has supported over 100 alumni events and activities each year, including regular thought leader talks, career workshops, company visits and sports activities to bring together university alumni in the region.

Alumni Club Events

Founded by active alumni, China Centre alumni healthcare club, continue study club, kids club, legal club, marketing club, badminton club, outdoor club and other alumni interest clubs and industry groups have been rather active with ever expanding influence.

Being the regional ambassador of the University of Manchester, China Centre is at the forefront of facilitating exchanges and development in culture, education, research and business, making contributions in different area yet within the same context of accelerating cooperation between China and the UK.

At the UoM China Centre 10th Anniversary Alumni Gala Dinner, a juvenile choir of 2nd generation of Manchester China Centre MBA graduates performed in symbolic Manchester bees and proudly sang a song ‘you are my sunshine’ with their mums, cheering to the good wishes of becoming a UoM graduate in the future and to the bright future of UoM alumni.

‘From setting up in Shanghai, to taking off in China’, Ms. Sherry Fu, the founding director of UoM China Centre hereby proposes a toast:

“We’ll bring more transnational courses to China, transforming the Centre to be a leader of digital learning revolution, to extend the university’s academic and research strength to a much wider audience in China.

With new students embarking on their Manchester journey, the Centre will continue our endeavour in contributing to Sino-UK cultural, education and business coopeations.
