2019年6月4日晚上,曼彻斯特大学中国中心邀请到曼彻斯特大学2013级DBA校友Srinivas Yanamandra博士,金砖国家新开发银行首席合规官, 举办了精彩的校友读书沙龙,与到场的20余位嘉宾与校友讨论了李开复博士(人工智能专家,谷歌中国前总裁)的作品《人工智能—超级力量》(AI Superpowers),深度就“人工智能革命的最新进展”,“中国金融科技的发展及其与人工智能革命的相关性”,硅谷与中国人工智能模式的差异;和“关于人工智能未来发展的政策建议”等话题进行分享。SrinivasYanamandra博士结合中国现象以及其在银行监管、反洗钱、反腐败和数字金融等领域18年的从业经验与大家探讨他眼中人工智能的未来。曼大中国中心再学习俱乐部发起人毛建华先生引导了最后的提问环节。大家纷纷运用商业思维,将自己的实战经验带到讨论中来。一位正在完成毕业项目的同学在会后与SrinivasYanamandra博士就他的项目里与人工智能相关的部分进行讨论,感叹到“原本难以理解的知识点突然变得清晰许多,真是一次受益匪浅的读书会!”

On June 4th evening, the University of China Centre organized a book discussion session by Dr. Srinivas Yanamandra (DBA 2013) and Chief, Compliance at the BRICS New Development Bank. Dr. Srinivas Yanamandra shared with more than 20 guests and alumni his understanding and views regarding the book “AI Superpowers,” by Kai-Fu Lee (AI expert, venture capitalist and former president of Google China), which argues that China and Silicon Valley will lead the world in AI. Dr. Srinivas Yanamandra walked audience through Lee’s book and discussed in details about the interplay between the United States and China in the world of artificial intelligence and technology more generally. Specifically, Dr. Srinivas Yanamandra outlines the insights of the book as a presentation covering "Understanding of the AI revolution so far", "Evolution of fintech in China and its relevance to AI revolution", "Differences between the Silicon Valley and Chinese approach to AI", and "Policy suggestions for future development of AI" etc.

Utilizing his 18 years of experience in dealing with regulatory and compliance aspects in the areas of anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, prudential regulations and digital finance, Dr. Srinivas Yanamandra looked at Chinese phenomenon and shared his opinions on what our AI world will be like in the future. Mr. Allen Mao, UoM China Centre alumni continue study club founder hosted the Q&A session where guests and audience brought their up-to-date business thinking and practical experiences to the discussion. One student brought his final project and stayed after the sesssion to discuss with Dr. Srinivas Yanamandra about the relevant AI issues concerning the project, and commented "all the tricky points suddenly became clear, such a thought-provoking session!"
