China Centre Celebrates 5 Years of the UoM's ELiP Programme

The University of Manchester China Centre recently marked the fifth anniversary of its MA Educational Leadership in Practice (ELiP) programme in China. Key faculty members, including Programme Director Dr Paul Armstrong, Deputy Director Dr. Bee Hughes, and Prof. Steven Courtney joined more than 50 current students and alumni for the event.

In her opening remarks, Ms Sherry Fu, Founding Director of the China Centre, highlighted the programme's growth since 2021. To date, it has engaged over 120 international educators from nearly 80 schools and institutions across more than 20 cities in China. Hailing from more than ten countries and regions, participants have enhanced their leadership skills through systematic learning, fostering development for both themselves and their organisations.

Professors Armstrong, Hughes, and Courtney highlighted the programme's interactive approach and its significant achievements in China over the past five years. They noted that each three-day, in-person workshop held in Shanghai serves as a crucial platform for in-depth exchange between faculty and students.

Alumni speakers praised the continuous and profound learning experience that the programme provided. Since its first intake, the programme has maintained high academic standards, with consistent professional dedication from the faculty team and steadfast support from the China Centre.

With the milestone of ELiP’s 5th anniversary, It is worth noting that the programme was again awarded the "Outstanding Programme of the Year" by the University's Faculty of Humanities. This award, voted for by students, demonstrates the strong recognition of the programme's quality and learning outcomes.

Looking ahead, China Centre will continue to work closely with the University's academic team to further expand the programme's influence, and provide enhanced career and industrial support for the development of international education talent in China.
